The Sea As Fallacy explores a sonic realm that assumes a smooth spectrum between the notes. Starting with a pure C#, the piece modulates microtonally, stepby-step, towards G#. the grand spectral harmonic fields are reinterpreted with the goal of a more intimate expression. Intermediate spaces are not only found in the microtonal pitches between two notes but in the form of noise, lying between silence and musical sound. For me, growing up on small islands, these shifting foundations of tonality resembles the surface of a sea – mostly quite peaceful with only slight wrinkles, but at other times with violent waves crashing down.
