James Dillon featured composer at Musikfestival Bern

On 5 September, James Dillon’s Lamentations : premieres at Musikfestival Bern where Dillon is the festival’s 2026 featured composer. Commissioned by Musikfestival Bern and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf//) the work is scored for 8 voices, 10 players and electronics, and will be performed by Ensemble Proton and Schola Heidelberg, conducted by Ekkehard Windrich, for both the world premiere and UK premiere (taking place on 20 November).
Musikfestival Bern will feature several of Dillon’s important works across the festival including East 11th St NY 10003; Blitzschlag, performed by soloist Vera Fischer and Basel Sinfonietta; 'echo the angelus’ and other piano works performed by Noriko Kawai; and Siorram.
It has also just been announced that Sean Shibe's album Vesper (featuring Dillon's 12 Caprices) has been nominated for a Gramophone award in the contemporary recording category. Results will be revealed on 7 October in a ceremony at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms.
